Creative Space

So, this is the area I have carved out for myself. Originally it had a small couch there, a second little sitting area in an extension at the back of the house that hardly ever got used. Paul built me the large table and the huge board behind it - lots of space for me to fill up! I love it, it's so light and bright. It's now a loved and valuable space that is well used. I was amazed at how much space there was if we just really thought about how we really used it and could it be better used. Sometimes I like to just go in and see the mess that is on the table, signs that things are being created, perhaps run my hands over the art supplies that are out and smile, this is my space!

Good Mail Days

Today I received in the post a picture I ordered and I'm so happy. It was created by an artist I have followed on her blog for a few months now, Maria Pace Wynters. I love her art, it so draws you in, the colours are sumptuous and all the girls depicted tell a story. I find her pictures and her prose moving and poetic. Here it is, it is titled "the beauty that surrounds": -

Beginnings

My creative journey really got going just over a year ago. I had been hankering after a more creative life for a few years before that and had dabbled in a few things, patchwork, applique and scrap booking. I'm not really a computer sort of person but in desperation I started looking online for inspiration and direction. I think you can guess what happened. Yep that's right I found a whole world of truly wonderful art/artists blogs. Wow, it was a real eye opener for me. What I was repeatedly drawn to was mixed media art. It was a brand new idea to me and boy was I excited. I was and am still blown away with how open and generous some of these artists are. Then joy of joys, there are online workshops. So, last April I took my first online workshop - She art worshop, hosted by Christy Tomlinson. She was amazing, so fun and giving and I learnt a lot. This was a whole new experience for me, I was bug eyed just taking it all in. Here are a couple of pictures showing what I created through that workshop.

I absolutely loved making these and I am proud of them as they mark the beginnings of my art journey. Don't you just love beginnings, so hopeful, so exciting and maybe just a little scary ( roller coaster scary not Hammer House of Horror scary ).
Take care X

First Secret

I have signed up for a new art journaling workshop, 21 Secrets, which so far I'm really enjoying. I have had a quick look at some of the 21 workshops on offer (each hosted by a different artist - hence the title). I've only actually had a go at one of them so far - Intuitive painted layers by Dina Wakley. So much fun, to just let go, paint with freedom and see what happens. This is what I created, it just makes me smile!

Just working out how to post

So this is Ellie, my daughter in her Jafar costume from Aladin at christmas. I know I am biased but she was utterly fabulous as was her friend Molly who played Iago!
